This acid salt of hydroxylamine serves as a biological in the nitrification of ammonia with oxygen and in the oxidation of nitrite and ammonium into dinotrogen gas, both essential functions of the nitrogen cycle of soil as well as wastewater treatment plants.Its primary application is in the extraction of oximes and hydroxamic acids from carboxylic acids, negative nitrogen and negative oxygen substituted hydroxylamines, and addition reactions of carbon-carbon double bonds. When used in surface treatments, it is a key component in anti-skinning agents, corrosion inhibitors, and cleaner additives. It’s also a foundational starting material for many pharmaceuticals and numerous agrochemical manufacturing processes. Additionally, in the plastics and rubber industries it is an antioxidant, vulcanization accelerator, and a radical scavenger. Furthermore, in textile dyes it is used a fixative, an auxiliary in dyeing processes, a metal extraction and flotation aid, and as an antioxidant in fatty acids and soaps, and finally as a color stabilizer and emulsion additive in color film development.
